It is unfair that women get all the tips to doll up this festive season. Christmas comes once a year and men too have to ensure that their fashion game is on. Study tells us that men are too cautious about how they look but are shy or sometimes lazy to work on it. Fear not because we bring you the trendiest style on your doorstep this year.
Old friend leather
We all know how much we (Shillongites) love our leather. However, for some reason, men here are a little wary to flaunt it. Advise is, please don’t because this fall/winter leather is at its highest peak in the fashion industry. An immaculate leather jacket will definitely get a couple of Fonz thumbs in the mirror and then proceed to charm everyone you encounter for the day. Fashion does not always have to be planned. Sometimes an unpredictable combo of your wardrobe will help you win hearts. So lads, this winter do not forget to add a stylish leather jacket to your wardrobe and pair it with a white T-shirt, jeans, shades and boots or sneakers.
Cold season,
cool colour
For some reason, I always categorise colours like grey, brown and black as ‘cool’. Ironically, the so-called reasoning matches with the season. Core shades of grey and brown are given a cooler cast for Fall Winter 2019-20. Applied to technical fabrication and sheen finishes, these cold tones have lent an industrial edge to the classic utilitarian palette. Greenish tints produce a contrasting organic influence.
Print fusion
If you are more of a risk-taking fashionista, I would suggest you go all out for bold patterns rather than sticking to the same pattern overall look. A ‘repeat pattern’ approach focusses on considered placement rather than the classic all-over pattern look. Believe it or not, but this is one trendiest look this year. You can pair your animal print top with checkered pattern bottom and if anybody is complaining then he/she needs a fashion intervention.
Coats! Coats! Coats!
Dear men, you all have so many options when it comes to coats: herringbone textured coat, single breasted coat, houndstooth coat and many more. Even if you are not remarkably dressed up underneath, a good coat will excel your overall look. For instance, you are at work and suddenly receive a call from friend/family for an unannounced party. Throw a good fabric herringbone coat on and it will definitely turn heads.
Savior corduroy
Please say ‘hi’ to our old buddy corduroy and do not be surprised at this newest trend of 2019. Corduroy has saved us in our childhood and now it’s back again. Corduroy is chiefly used for breeches, coats, hunting apparel, millinery, slacks, jackets and trousers. All trend-setters have been spotted wearing corduroy this season. Be it celebrities, business tycoons or sportsmen, corduroy is a big hit. Team up a corduroy jacket with formals or casuals and you are going to rock the look.
Knit jumper
For a fashion piece that looks good over and under anything, a good chunky knit jumper is a winner across the board. You can throw one on for the morning commute and even be versatile enough to switch it up for the weekend dog walk. This chunky knit should be the go to piece for your winter outfit.
Turtle neck
Don’t be mistaken that only ladies rock in turtle neck T-shirt or sweater. Men can definitely carry the turtle neck for a sophisticated look and if you’re not cut out for the scarf life, or if you want to rock both, why not try a turtle neck as your trusty outfit companion. Not only are they chic and sophisticated, they are also toasty and keeps your neck warm. Follow the trends and your heart by keeping warm this winter.

For all men out there, gloves aren’t something you usually reach for. They aren’t practical and they tend to just be a bit of an inconvenience. However, investing in a good pair of leather gloves could be the game changer. Don’t settle for some cheap mittens that won’t last the season but invest in some high quality gloves that’ll be slick and sleek to wear and be functional and practical in all of your daily activities.
Rock that muff and keep your ears warm with a trusty pair of earmuffs. They may look silly but it is super adorable and cozy. It also means you don’t get hideous hat hair on the way to work. Follow the Bohemian trend and reach for the chunky knitwear. Whether it is paired with your suit for the office, or with your comfies on a weekend stroll, scarves have cemented their place in the winter outfit necessity.
