SHILLONG: The Raid Laban Sports Social and Cultural Organisation on Saturday felicitated 315 meritorious students at Soso Tham Auditorium in the city.
The function was inaugurated by Additional Chief Secretary RV Suchiang.
Speaking to reporters after the felicitation programme, South Shillong MLA and president of the organisation, Sanbor Shullai said, “The objective of the programme is to encourage the students to work hard and achieve success in their academics.”
He informed that the organisation has facilitated the students who have excelled in various exams in 30 categories which included SSLC, HSSLC, CBSE, Degree besides others.
The students who were felicitated on Saturday are all residents of South Shillong constituency.
“We have also felicitated differently abled students and awarded around 147 students with laptops,” he said.
He informed that the first time when the event was organised, there were only 35 students who had received awards but the number has increased to 315 students.
