SHILLONG: The city police have beefed up security to ensure peaceful celebration of Christmas.
East Khasi Hills SP Claudia Lyngwa said security personnel have been deployed in all the police stations and outposts. There will be round-the-clock security in many parts of the city. For safety of revellers, there will be checking against rash and drunken driving, the SP informed. The Shillong Traffic Police (STP) has also issued an advisory to motorists to avoid driving after drinking on Christmas. “We will be on vigil even at odd hours. Violators will be penalised as per the law. Don’t drink and drive. Stay safe and make others safe,” the STP said.
