SHILLONG: Chief Minister Conrad Sangma, who is in-charge of the Personnel department, is yet to decide on the demand of the pressure groups regarding the appointment of senior most IAS officer Hector Marwein as the chief secretary.
Earlier on the last working day on December 23, Marwein’s next junior MS Rao was appointed by the department to head the post from December 31.
Sources said that the appointment was effected by the chief minister.
Soon after the notification, Marwein petitioned the outgoing chief secretary PS Thangkhiew airing his grievances.
An official source said that since the appointment was effected by the chief minister, there is limited role for the chief secretary to intervene other than forwarding the complaint to the concerned department for examination.
