Vaiphei yet to assume charge as rights panel chief

SHILLONG: Though the state government had decided to appoint T. Vaiphei, former chief justice of Tripura High Court as the chairman of Meghalaya Human Rights Commission, the government is yet to get any feedback from him. An official source said that the government has already approved the appointment of Vaiphei as the chairman of the commission. However, confirmation from Vaiphei is awaited. The MHRC is currently headed by acting chairman PJP Hanaman and B Giri, retired District and Sessions Judge as member.
