GUWAHATI: With growing number of people from all walks of life including government servants, teachers, professionals, artistes, litterateurs joining the unrelenting but peaceful mass agitation against Citizenship (Amendment) Act in Assam, Assam government has apparently started a process to scare way government staff from the agitation.

In a directive issued against by the Director of Higher Education in Assam on Monday and  marked to all the Principals of Government and Provincialised Colleges  and Registrars  of all affiliated universities , the state government has barred the teaching community  and staff of higher education institutions from making any statement of facts or opinion critical of the government, failing which they will attract punishment as per the provisions of the Assam Service ( Disciples and Appeal) Rules, 1964.

It may be mentioned that non-gazetted  employees of Assam government under the banner of Sadou Asam Karmachari Parishad (SAKP) have already observed one-day cease work in protest against the  Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
