Patna: Bihar deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Saturday dared Chief Ministers of West Bangal, Kerala and other non BJP ruled states to move forward in their mission to stop implementation of CAA and National Population Register (NPR) in their respective states.
Warning the chief ministers opposed to CAA and NPR, Modi told newspersons here that implementation of the law enacted by the Parliament is binding upon the state governments.
Any refusal by a person to comply with the provisions made under CAA, would invite strong punishment of three years imprisonment along with penalty, he said adding that similar offence committed for NPR would attract disciplinary action as well as fine of Rs 1,000.
He said it is the obligation of the states to implement the law enacted by the centre for the citizenship and no state government had the power to reject or stop the implementation of CAA and NPR and other laws and rules made by Parliament. (UNI)
