SHILLONG: Two shops were gutted when a major fire broke out at Luckier Road around 1.30 am on Saturday.
Though the cause of the fire is not yet known, residents suspect that it may have started from a bonfire as people often light fire to warm themselves in the cold.
No casualty was reported and many fire tenders were rushed to the spot to douse the flames.
