SHILLONG: The president of Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) South West Khasi Hills, Forward Nongrem, had demanded that a Special Investigation Team (SIT) should probe the sudden death of their Nonglang unit member, Teiborlang Marwein (23).
Marwein was found dead on the roadside of Bri-Iawngei at Tynnai village on Thursday morning. He was an active member of the KSU Nonglang unit.
His body was found with both his hands and legs fractured, sources said. According to the relatives, Marwein left home around 10 pm on January 1, to meet his girlfriend at Tynnai where he was suspected to have been murdered.
When asked whether they would urge for a SIT probe, Nongrem said, “There should be a special investigation so as to find out the culprits behind the murder of our member based on the FIR lodged by his family member”.
“From our side also, we are trying to find out and we also feel that the culprits need to surrender themselves  before it is too late”, he added.
When asked whether they suspect any foul play, Nongrem said that nothing can be said presently but added that they suspected that Marwein has been murdered and hence urged the police to nab the culprits.
