SHILLONG: The chairman of GHADC has convened a session on Thursday to take up the pending no-confidence motion.
Sources said that the decision to hold the session was following the direction of the High Court of Meghalaya on Friday.
The order of single bench headed by Justice W Diengdoh was that the sole agenda of the sitting will be to take up the motion of no-confidence for discussion and voting.
Earlier, after the ruling alliance lost the post of deputy chairman on November 27, the GHADC chairman had adjourned the House abruptly without taking up the no-confidence motion moved by the Congress.
Later, a petition was filed in the court by Congress MDC Stevie M Marak and two others for taking up the no-confidence motion.
Meanwhile, KHADC MDCs under the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) will meet the Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday to initiate the trial of strength in the KHADC in order to form the Executive Committee (EC).
UDP Teinwell Dkhar said that MDCs of UDA will meet the chief minister to seek a clarification also on the status of the administrator’s rule in the KHADC which the MDA has been pushing forth for.
The MDCs will appeal to the state government to make way for the UDA to form the EC as the UDA has 16 MDCs while UDF has only 13 MDCs.
