The XI beat Rangkynsai to become champion

SHILLONG: 7TH Ardhendu Chaudhuri Memorial Tennis Ball Day & Night cricket tourney, organized by Rilbong Sports & Cultural Club came to its climax on Saturday.
In the first Semi-final match played between, The XI and Laban SC, The XI defeated Laban SC by 5 wickets. Laban SC won the toss and elected to bat first. In their 6 overs, they could manage to score only 24 runs. In reply, The XI easily chased down the target in 4.2 overs and scored 27 runs to seal the final berth. In the second Semi-final, Rangkynsai SC got the better of Young Guns by 3 wickets. Rankynsai winning the toss sent Young Guns to bat first. Young Guns then scored 38 runs in 6 overs. In reply, Rangkynsai scored 39 runs in 6 overs.
Thus they secured the second spot for the final. In the final, it was a very tight game between the two as both the teams gave it all in the field to lay hand on the coveted chalice. However, it was The XI who defeated Rangkynsai SC to come out as winner in the end. Rangkynsai winning the toss sent The XI to bat first. The XI then scored 49 runs in 6 overs. Though it was not a huge total, but chasing under the lights was always difficult, as Rangkynsai could only manage 25 runs in their 6 overs, thus losing the final match by 24 runs to The XI. At the prize ceremony, Bibhuti Chakraborty, the general secretary of the Rilbong Sports & Cultural Club handed over the awards. The XI won the champions trophy and cash award of Rs 12000.
Runner Up team, Rangkynsai won the trophy as well as cash award of Rs 7000. Apart from that, Rahul Sharma won trophy and cash award of Rs 1000 for scoring highest runs in the tournament. Neetesh Sharma won trophy and cash award of Rs 1000 for taking highest wickets in the tournament. ICCA was adjudged the most disciplined team, as the y won a trophy and cash award of Rs 2000. Special prize was given to Elias Sohtun of Laban Sports Club for being the youngest participant to play in the tournament.
The tournament commitee also handed over Rs 5000 for AAHAR programme.
