School principal clarifies on assault of Tura café owner
TURA: The Government Boys’ Higher Secondary School, Tura, principal has clarified on the incident of assault on the owner of Red Door Café by the school teacher and her partner, which took place recently. The authority, while reminding that the incident took place outside the institution, said that the teacher Sonam Odriyana G Momin, who serves as a vocational trainer in the school, is appointed by the Skill Training Company and not by the state government. With regard to claims of Momin’s irregularity, the authority clarified she was given leave at the end of the year for her wedding. The authority also informed that warning has been issued to Momin by her and the District School Education Officer not to repeat such behaviour in the future.
WGH DC’s order on LPG cylinders
TURA: The West Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner (Supply) has directed all LPG agencies under West Garo Hills not to supply 14.2-kg-capacity cylinders for commercial purposes as well as to acquire sufficient stock of 19-kg-capacity cylinders in their respective agencies. The directive comes following reports of some business establishments, like hotels, restaurants, fast food counters, etc., using domestic 14.2-kg-capacity cylinders in place of the 19 kg, thereby creating shortage of domestic cylinders. The order issued on Tuesday added that failure to comply with directive would be viewed seriously and appropriate action taken under relevant rules.

SHILLONG: The Joint Director of Health Services (SS), Civil Hospital, Shillong, has informed that a male patient named Dutta, aged 60 years, c/o Barabazar, EKH, was admitted in the Male Medical Ward-I, Bed No. 26 of the Civil Hospital on January 7 at 9:29 am, who expired at 8:29 pm on the same day. The joint director has urged all concerned to collect the body from the hospital morgue within a period of 3 days failing which it will be sent for disposal by the Shillong Municipal Board.
