GUWAHATI: In a move to develop pan-Indian vision and attitude in the students, Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi flagged off a national integration tour for a batch of students from Northeastern states to Pune and Naval Dockyard Mumbai at Raj Bhavan here on Wednesday.

Organised by Moreh Battalion of 26 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of Inspector General Assam Rifles (South), the national integration tour is aimed at helping the students know different states of India and develop a pan-India attitude. A total of 24 students (boys) with two teachers are part of the tour. The tour is being carried out from 14 January to 26 January  2020.

Being conducted under Capt. Bharat Singh Adhwariya, the objective of the tour is to enable the youths of NE states to see the amalgamation of the varied and rich culture of India and develop a feeling of ‘Unity in Diversity’ that the country stands for as well as to develop strong bonding between NE region and rest of the country. The tour includes various aspects like sight-seeing, visit to defence establishment, DRDO and interaction with prominent personalities like Governors etc.

While hailing the initiative of Assam Rifles for organising the tour, the Governor said that the tour of this nature besides facilitating exchange of ideas, views etc among the youths of different regions, fosters universal brotherhood and strengthens the spirit of friendship and camaraderie. He asked Assam Rifles to organize such tours frequently and help the students to develop a better understanding about their nation and develop a strong sense of nationalism.
