SHILLONG: Members of the Confederation of Meghalaya Social Organisations (CoMSO) staged a protest on Wednesday near the BJP office demanding implementation of ILP from the central leaders who arrived for the election of state party president.
Members of the CoMSO displayed placards that read, ‘Sanjeev K Balyan (Union minister of state) implement ILP in our state, Tell Amit Shah to implement ILP in Meghalaya’.
The protestors were stopped from marching towards the BJP office. However, after a lot of discussion with the district magistrate and police officials, a few of the leaders were allowed to go and meet the union minister.
Talking to reporters, the union minister said he has assured the pressure groups that he will have a word with the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah, to give the pressure groups and the BJP leaders from here appointment.
“They want to meet home minister and I have assured I will go to Delhi and would request the home minister to give an appointment to the NGOs and the BJP of Meghalaya. They came to meet me and as a central minister, it is my duty to meet them,” Balyan said.
A member of CoMSO, Treiborlang R Suchen said that they requested the union minister to urge the central leadership to speed up the process of implementing ILP in the state, starting from getting the appointment for the state leaders.
