Body found
On January 10, around 10:15 am, an unidentified male body, which was tied by a thin plastic rope around the neck, was recovered from Boucher Road near Fire Service Station, Shillong. Necessary formalities were observed and the cadaver was sent to CH Shillong for post-mortem examination.

Assault
Bhola Sheikh lodged a complaint that on January 7, around 1.30 am, one Akhidur along with his accomplices assaulted his son Mir Hussain at Gandhimari, West Garo Hills (WGH), causing grievous injuries to him.

Theft
Netaji Hajong lodged a complaint that on January 13, around 4.30 am, two unidentified miscreants in one three-wheeler (ML-07B-6403) attempted to steal his hand pump machine which was installed at Thakuranbari, South West Garo Hills (SWGH). However, on seeing the complainant, the miscreants fled away leaving behind their vehicle.

Fraud
Sparley Ryngksai lodged a complaint that on January 12, one Mahendra Raghuwanshi cheated him of Rs. 77,300 by offering to sell a vehicle (AS-05G-8543) through OLX.

Cattle smuggling
SI Gajraj Singh, MCP Commander, Sonapur Bridge, NH-6, East Jaintia Hills (EJH), lodged a complaint that on January 12, around 9.40 pm, MCP party intercepted one truck (AS-10C-1386) driven by Fakrul Islam (36) along with his handyman Zobir Ahmed (33) at Sonapur Bridge (EJH), while transporting twenty-four head of cattle, reportedly meant for smuggling through the international border near Kuliang/Umkiang areas.
