Mock drill on earthquake, fire at Ri Bhoi hospital

NONGPOH: As part of preparedness measures for the hospital in time of any disasters that would occurs in future, the office of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Nongpoh in collaboration with the office of the District Medical & Health Officer, Ri Bhoi District and Civil Hospital, Nongpoh on Thursday conducted a one-day mock drill on earthquake & fire in Civil Hospital here.

The mock drill was participated by the doctors, nurses and other hospital staffs, the Meghalaya Home Guards, Fire and emergency service personnel, Meghalaya Civil Defence personnel, students from Ri Bhoi College, Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan.

The mock drill also witnesses the presence of D.P Kharsati, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Ri Bhoi District & CEO of DDMA and Dr G Mihsil, Superintendent of Civil Hospital Nongpoh, Smt. K.Wanniang DDMA and other officials.

During the mock drill, the participants were given training on the response and rescue operation to be adopted during disasters, mock drill are being carried with an aim to equip the staff of the civil hospital to cope in times of crisis which may occur due to natural forces like earthquake and fire.
