SHILLONG: The state government has released the pending Dearness Allowance (DA) of Rs 97 crore to the employees and pensioners. A notification in this regard was issued by the Finance department on Thursday.
Sources said that due to financial crunch, the government could not release the DA on time.
However, the government is yet to release the pending 30 per cent arrear of the employees as per the recommendations of the fifth pay commission.
The arrear was to be released in December last year as the earlier installments — 40 per cent in 2017 and 30 per cent in 2018 — were released on time.
An official said that since the financial year is yet to end, the government is exploring ways and means to release the pending arrear within March 31.
