Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh attends 7th CPA conference

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Assembly Speaker Metbah Lyngdoh accompanied by Commissioner and Secretary, Andrew Simons attended the 7th Conference of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) to discuss ‘Capacity Building of Legislators for Scrutinizing Budgetary Proposals’ and ‘Enhancing Focus of Legislators on Legislative Business’.
The two-day conference was held in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh.
The regional representatives from CPA’s Australia Region, South East Asia Region also attended the CPA India Region Conference which was inaugurated by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Biria on Thursday.
It is informed that, the CPA is composed of over 180 branches formed in legislatures of Commonwealth countries enjoying parliamentary democracy. All the CPA branches are geographically grouped into nine Commonwealth Regions. Such conferences of CPA India Region are held once in two years and the 6th conference was held in 2017 in Patna.
