Shillong: Divyansh Rajput struck yet another century for Meghalaya in the U-19 Cooch Behar Trophy on Saturday, this time against Sikkim. After winning the toss and choosing to bat on the first day in Tezpur, Meghalaya were bowled out for 282, with Sikkim on 74/1 at stumps, trailing by 208. No. 3 Rajput (128) had to come in early after the loss of a wicket in the second over but put on 101 runs with Mrinal Das (28) and 105 with Hrithik Sharma (52) before he was also dismissed. Rajput’s ton consisted of 17 fours and two sixes. He previously scored one century and one double ton this season. The dismissal of Sharma and Rajput, which came within the space of four deliveries, saw a batting collapse, however, and Meghalaya lost their last eight wickets for just 72 runs. A neat little cameo from Abhishek Yadav (23 from 17 deliveries) proved to be the lone bright spot lower down the order. Sikkim then managed to make it to stumps without too much damage, though they did lose one wicket to Aaron Nongrum (1/15).
