Two held with heroin
On January 20, around 5.40 pm, acting on inputs about movements of two drug peddlers, police intercepted one Maruti car (ML-06-0853) at Nongspung village, West Khasi Hills. The police apprehended occupants Batskhemlang L Marshillong (19) and Teiborlin L Marshillong (28) and recovered around 3.50 grams of suspected heroin powder from their possession.

Cattle seized
SI SN Biswas, MCP Commander, Sonapur, East Jaintia Hills, lodged a complaint that on January 20, around 6.20 am, while conducting checking at Sonapur Bridge (EJH), one truck (AS-02-2289) fled away from the checking point. Following this, personnel on duty chased the truck and later found the vehicle abandoned on the roadside along with eighteen head of cattle onboard. However, the driver managed to flee.
Deepak Kumar, Assistant Commandant, Coy Commander, G-Coy, 97 Bn, BSF, BOP Ratacherra, East Jaintia Hills, lodged a complaint that on January 18, around 2.45 am, BSF personnel detected movement of around 8 to 10 miscreants on both sides of the Indo-Bangladesh border fencing. However, the miscreants managed to escape. During search, fifty-one head of cattle were recovered from the spot.
