Meghalaya mobilises Rs 450 cr for National Games infrastructure

SHILLONG: Meghalaya Government has so far mobilised close to Rs 450 crores from different ministries including Social Justice, Tribal Affairs, NEC and other departments for creating infrastructure for the National Games 2022.

Talking to media persons after chairing the meeting of the National Games Organising Committee, Chief Minister said, Conrad Sangma said that the Meghalaya Government is also moving to different Ministries to give funds for creating infrastructure.

The Chief Minister further informed that location and venues were finalised in the meeting in terms of actual infrastructure which needs to be developed.

He said that discussions with various departments on issues of power, water supply, road connectivity, urban issues were also held in the meeting.

Stating that different organisations and sports association have urged the State Government for more support so that they can focus more on the training programme, he added that the Government would provide necessary support to them.

Reiterating that the state government is firmly committed and planning to ensure that the state is ready to host National Games 2022, he expressed confidence that the state was moving on the right track as far as hosting of the games.

Members from different departments, discussed issues of power, water supply, road connectivity, urban issues.

The State Government in the meeting has also given a timeline to finish the work for different components on time.
