SHILLONG: Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui has launched the Digital Infrastructure for Knowledge Sharing (DIKSHA) app for Meghalaya on Thursday.
Launched by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD) and the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), DIKSHA is a customisable national digital infrastructure that states can use for their respective teacher-centric initiatives.
Students and teachers will be able to use energised textbooks and DIKSHA to access and develop high-quality teaching, learning and assessment resources for all subjects and levels.
In his speech, Rymbui said the app is a unique platform which can be used by the students and teachers and stated that it is up to the Education department to take the initiative forward as it will play an important role to disseminate the project to the student community.
DIKSHA- Meghalaya will soon host additional features, with primary focus on the development of teachers, as it is considered as the most important lever of change in education.
Meghalaya has printed the first edition of Energised Text Books for Core Science and Mathematics for Classes 9 & 10 this academic year after the conduct of a series of workshops for developing its contents.
The state believes that the interactive audio-visual content, assessments and animations will make learning engaging for children thereby helping them understand concepts better.
Through the app, it is also expected that pressure on teachers will be reduced by providing them with a range of curated content linked to the curriculum that they can use while preparing for classes.
The state government will be conducting rigorous training sessions on how to use the online content effectively to ensure that all its teachers are aware of making the best use of the facilities at their disposal.
It is also embarking on a journey to create and curate quality content by trained state government teachers that can be leveraged by all states through the DIKSHA platform.
It is informed that the DIKSHA is the third largest app in the country, and over 10 crore students from across the nation have downloaded the app.
