SHILLONG: The NPP-led MDA government will complete two years in April.
However, rumours about a reshuffle in the cabinet are doing the rounds with Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong maintaining that there has not been any discussion on the matter as of now.
On Friday, Tynsong said that the decision to reshuffle the cabinet ministers will have to be taken by the chief minister as it his prerogative.
“We have not yet discussed the matter as the situation has not arrived that we have to discuss about reshuffling,” he said.
He added that by convention, he leaves it to the wisdom of the chief minister who has every right to do things for the betterment of the government and for the interest of the partners.
Sources said some members of MDA partners wanted the removal of Home Minister James Sangma or change of his portfolios due to the inability of the government to check illegal coal transportation.
Besides, earlier it was informed that the two BJP MLAs had also come to a consensus that each of them will share half the tenure as a minister in the state.
