Meghalaya women lose to Sikkim by 61 runs in U-23 One-Day Trophy

SHILLONG: Meghalaya began their U-23 Women’s One-Day Trophy campaign but lost out to Sikkim by 61 runs in Bhubaneshwar on Friday. Sikkim won the toss and chose to bat and scored 217/6 in their 50 overs to which Meghalaya responded with 156/7. Nine bowlers were used by Meghalaya, of which five – Soline Jaba (1/23), Riticia Nongbet (1/25), Luiza Tamang (1/28), Ajima Sangma (1/32) and Deiphibapynshngain L Mawnai (1/40) – picked up a wicket each. In the chase, Tamang top-scored with 37, while Mawnai chipped in with a quick 25 off 28 balls, however, Meghalaya were quite unable to keep up with the required run rate and fell short of the target.
