No end to coal transportation

SHILLONG: Even after the Lokayukta asking CBI to enquire into the illegal transportation of coal, the activity continues.
Between January 21 and January 23, the police seized 10 trucks, including dumpers, carrying coal in Ri Bhoi and East Jaintia Hills districts.
On January 23 around 2.15 am, police seized a truck (ML10 C 0875) while illegally transporting coal in violation of NGT order at Umjarong village, Ri-Bhoi.
Prior to that, on January 22, police seized two trucks (ML10 B 2045 and ML05 D 4930) while transporting coal at Saw Number Area, Ri-Bhoi.
On January 21 around 9.30 pm as well, police seized one truck (ML05 T 3595) while loading coal meant for illegal transportation at Rymbai Road, East Jaintia Hills. However, the driver and labourers managed to escape.
On the same night, police seized a coal-laden truck (AS11 DC 5245) driven by one Md. Muktar Ali at Umpleng village, East Jaintia Hills.
Police also detected five dumper trucks (ML11 7840, Temp No. 2654, ML11 8779, ML10 B 4661 and ML11 9991), driven by Lasborn Langbang, Thasone Pale,
Tyrchainmeki Bareh, Lobing Stone Suchiang and Heihok Wano Passah respectively, while transporting coal at Dkhiah East, East Jaintia Hills.
Police also seized one Maruti Alto K10 (ML11 0186) driven by one Donbok Syad, when he went to the place of occurrence to speak on behalf of the seized vehicles.
