Pro-ILP posters greet Cabinet meeting in Jowai

SHILLONG:  While Meghalaya Government  held its first ever Cabinet meeting  in the  Office  of the Divisional Officer, Soil and Water Conservation, Mih Myntdu, Jowai,  pro ILP Graffiti  were written by  unidentified people all over the town including  the boundary walls and entrance of the venue where the meeting was held.

As soon as the graffiti were noticed in the morning, the district administration and police removed.

“Some of the graffiti were written, “No ILP, No Cabinet.”

When informed about the graffiti , Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma said that  he recently met the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and had requested him to hold a meeting  with a delegation from Meghalaya

“I also briefed him that we have passed a resolution  and he assured that he would call the delegation and after discussions, picture will be clearer,” he said, adding that MDA is the first Government in the state which has passed a resolution for ILP and this shows Government’s seriousness

“Its not under our control but we are pursuing with the Home Ministry and if necessary, we will also pursue with the prime Minister,” he said

He also said that the protesting NGOs should be happy and they should realize that Meghalaya Government has taken steps and it has shown its sincerity.

“We are open for discussions and talks and let us all work  together,” he said
