SHILLONG: The secretary to Governor of Meghalaya has informed the District Council Affairs (DCA) department regarding the appointment of KHADC Executive Committee members for official notification.
The official letter addressed to the Commissioner and Secretary, DCA department on Monday said that the governor as per the directives of the Meghalaya High Court approved the appointment of Grace Mary Kharpuri as the Deputy Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the KHADC.
The governor also approved the appointment of Mitchel Wankhar, Macdalyn Sawkmie Mawlong, Lamphrang Blah and Ronnie V Lyngdoh as executive members of the council.
Earlier, the High Court had cleared appointment of the council members and deputy CEM.
The Court in its order said the governor of the state does not have any discretion to with hold appointment of executive members, as advised by the CEM.
The state government has maintained that the list will have to be officially notified in the gazette.
