North East leaders attend BJP meet, discuss upcoming Delhi polls
SHILLONG: A meeting of the BJP’s Delhi election campaign was held at Meghalaya House in New Delhi on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Union Sports Minister, Kiren Rijiju; Meghalaya Health Minister, AL Hek; National General Secretary BJP, Sunil Deodhar; and Assam MP Dilip Saikia. The meeting, which was also attended by several party leaders from the North East, discussed on how to ensure party’s win in the upcoming Delhi elections.

SWKH Got Talent finale on Feb 29
SHILLONG: The Rngaid Development Society and All Meghalaya Dancers Association (AMDA) informed that the Grand Finale of the South West Khasi Hills Got Talent Season-III will be held on February 29 at Mawkyrwat from 11 am to 8 pm. In a press communiqué, Rngaid Development Society and the All Meghalaya Dancers Association stated that it is on a talent hunt to send talented artists to the state and national level. In a separate press statement, AMDA informed that Mandakaro Tynkan bagged the title of Miss Saphai 2020, Samanki Synnah was adjudged the first-runner up and Wandapynsuk Biam was the second runner-up.

Rice, atta distribution in EKH, WJH
SHILLONG/JOWAI: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) (Supply), East Khasi Hills, has informed that rice under NFSA and Non-NFSA and tide over wheat for the month of January has been released through their respective fair price shops. Rice under Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) will be distributed at the scale of 35 kg per card at Rs 3 per kg, Priority House Hold (PHH) at the scale of 5 kg per unit at Rs 3 per kg and whole meal atta at the scale of 5 kg and 3 kg for urban and rural areas, respectively, at Rs 8 per kg. Any non-supply, overcharging of rate or supply of inferior quality may be reported to the DC. Moreover, the DC (Supply), West Jainita Hills, has also informed that rice under AAY will be distributed at the scale of 35 kg per card at Rs 3 per kg, PHH at the scale of 5 kg per head at Rs 3 per kg, non-NFSA quota of rice at the scale of 7.215 kg per household fixed by the Vigilance Committee not to exceed Rs 13 per kg for both rural and urban areas, respectively.

Event on social entrepreneurship
SHILLONG: Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) will launch an awareness programme on the growth initiative and social entrepreneurship in the state under the project ‘Bengal and North Eastern Region Green Innovators & Social Entrepreneurs (BANERGISE)’ on Thursday. Addressing a press conference on Wednesday, assistant director of MSME Development Institute, Kolkata and Director-in-charge of the institute, Ritwik Biswas, said small industries face a lot of hurdles and at the awareness programme, entrepreneurs will be taught on technical support system. Assistant director, MSME-DI, Kolkata, Nirmal Chowdhury said that the awareness programme is also aimed at enhancing export and reducing imports.
