First-ever children’s film fest in Tura
TURA: The West Garo Hills District Administration in collaboration with the Department of Arts and Culture, Government of Meghalaya, will organise first-ever Children’s Film Festival in Tura on Friday and Saturday. The festival will be organised at the Tura District Auditorium during which, popular cartoons, both English and Hindi, will be screened on both days at different timings. The festival, which is being sponsored by the Children Film Society (CFS), Mumbai, will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Conrad Sangma. As part of the festival, a children’s book stall will also be put up by the organisers, where the interested can go through their favourite books.

Fire, safety drill at KV School
SHILLONG: The Meghalaya Fire and Emergency Services in collaboration with the Kendriya Vidyalaya School, AFS, Laitkor Peak, Samrin Quadri, conducted ‘Fire and Safety Drill’ at the school premises on Tuesday. An officer from the fire services gave a PowerPoint presentation in the ICT room of the school regarding fire safety as other officials conducted the fire safety and evacuation drill in the assembly ground, a statement issued here informed. The Meghalaya Fire and Emergency Services officers, who conducted the exercise, include Paul Sangkly, sub-officer; Franky Marvein, driver-fireman; and firemen Arunkumar Singh, Shiva Thapa, Anand Tamang and Shaistar Malngiang.

Bike rally on February 14 in Jowai
SHILLONG: West Jaintia Hills (WJH) District Executive Force (DEF) in partnership with the District Legal Services Authority, WJH, will organise a bike rally on Friday. The rally, which will be held on the theme ‘Love the Law’, will focus on “observing and obeying traffic rules”. The SP, WJH, in a statement on Tuesday, has invited interested bikers to participate in the rally and asked them to report at 7 am sharp at Jowai Police Station. The route for the rally will be provided at the venue, the statement added.
