SHILLONG: Assembly Speaker, Metbah Lyngdoh, on Wednesday, urged children, who come from underprivileged families, to excel in life and to give back to the society once they become successful.
Lyngdoh was speaking at a programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan organised by CHILDLINE Shillong implemented by the Bosco Integrated Development Society, at the Divine Saviour Parish Hall, Nongthymmai.
While asserting that the children are the future of the family, society and the nation, Lyngdoh said that they are fortunate to have organisations that are taking care of their education.
The Assembly Speaker also urged the children not to be burdened by life’s challenges.
“Some of you have your parents, some of you may have only one parent; there are others who have only their relatives. In life, they, too, face challenges while trying to look after you,” Lyngdoh said.
The CHILDLINE has, for the past two years, conducted activities on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan with children and added value to the national campaign.
