SHILLONG: A two-day district-level training for the principal census officers, district census officers, charge officers and other officers of West Jaintia Hills (WJH) District and East Jaintia Hills (EJH) District for the Census of India, 2021 and updation of National Population Register (NPR) was held on Thursday and Friday at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, WJH, Jowai.
A statement issued on Friday said that the training was organised jointly for both the districts and was attended by Deputy Commissioner, WJH and EJH, Garod LSN Dykes and FM Dopth, along with additional DCs, charge officers and other officers.
“Aibor Sanglyne Basan, Assistant Director of the Directorate of Census Operations, Meghalaya, was deputed as a master trainer from ORGI, Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs to the training programme along with a state master trainer, G Rani, Assistant Director, Border Areas,” the statement said.
The DCs, during the programme, said that district machinery is ready for this prestigious exercise and expressed confidence over executing it successfully. They also urged all stakeholders to work together, so that both the districts may be a model for others to follow.
The master trainers laid out the various technicalities and explained in detail the concepts, methodology and process of the Census.
“The Houselisting Operations of the Census along with NPR for the two districts, as for the whole state, shall commence from April 1 till May15,” the statement said.
The assistant director of Census has also called for the wholehearted cooperation of the public to provide correct information for census data.
“Census data is released at the aggregate level only and no individual information will be disclosed under any circumstances,” the statement said.
