Man held for kidnapping, raping minor

MAWKYRWAT: Mawkyrwat Police on Monday arrested one person from Rambrai village, West Khasi Hills, for kidnapping and raping a 13-year-old girl from South West Khasi Hills since the night of February 14.
Sources informed that the incident took place at around 2 am in which one individual identified as Shanborlin Lyngdoh (22) from Rambrai village enticed the girl and took her to his parents’ home at Rambrai village after which he sexually assaulted the 13-year-old.
Police sources informed that immediately after the girl’s parents filed an FIR, Mawkyrwat Police ceaselessly carried out search operation and on Monday night, around 9 pm, they rescued the girl and arrested Lyngdoh.
The accused has been booked under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act for kidnapping and raping the girl.
