SHILLONG: The Synjuk Ki Nongsynshar Shnong Ka Bri U Hynniewtrep (SNSBH), a conglomerate of over three thousand Durbars from Khasi and Jaintia Hills, has asked the state government to find an early solution to the inter-state boundary row with Assam over Langpih.
Representatives of SNSBH on Wednesday met Chief Minister Conrad Sangma and requested him to call upon his Assam counterpart and find a lasting solution at the earliest.
SNSBH general secretary RL Blah, while speaking to media persons, said that the problem is age-old and keeps on surfacing time and again.
He informed that the chief minister has assured them that he would meet Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal after the budget session to discuss the matter.
It may be recalled that Langpih has been one of the bones of contention between the two states with skirmishes happening every now and then.
In 2010 four residents of Langpih had fallen to the bullets of Assam police.
The situation along the disputed areas escalated last week once again after Assam police tried to set up a police camp on land belonging to a state resident.
Following the incident, the chief minister spoke to his Assam counterpart on the need to maintain status quo.
