NONGPOH: Umroi MLA George B Lyngdoh, who officially launched the Family Strengthening Programme (FSP) of the SOS Shillong, donated computers and printers to the officials of the SOS Shillong so as to enable and encourage them to better their efforts in ensuring a holistic development of the children in all spheres of life.
The implementation of FSP is indeed a prominent development as hundreds of families under Umroi Constituency have benefitted immensely from the programme.
It aims at ensuring survival, protection, participation and developmental needs of the socio-economically vulnerable children and their families.
The programme, though it was implemented in the area since 2007, was officially launched by the local legislator of Umroi in a function held at Diengsohmaud, Mawbsein in Umroi on Thursday.
Few of the villages which have immensely benefitted from this programme include Mynsain, Pynthor, Umktieh, Mawkhim, Mawbsein and Sohriewblei under Bhoirymbong Block.
Also, more than 514 children were ensured of a holistic development through socio-economic empowerment and capacity building of the caregivers.
In his address, Lyngdoh, who is instrumental in the success of the programme, lauded the efforts of all stakeholders for the success of the programme.
While underlining the responsibility as parents, he said that many poor families have benefitted from the programme and it has been a great blessing.
