SHILLONG: People from different communities in the city came together on Friday and condemned the violence in New Delhi while vowing to remain united against all forms of violence.
The violence in the national capital has left more than 42 people dead so far.
Thma U Rangli organised an all-faith solidarity vigil against the violence taking place in New Delhi. The vigil was attended by people from different communities and walks of life.
TUR leader Angela Rangad, while addressing the gathering, said the country is under attack and people need to react against every single act of hatred and violence.
Dr Kamaljit Singh said they stand in solidarity against mindless violence in the country.
“We should condemn all forms of violence not only in New Delhi, but even in UP and Shillong”, he said.
Rev Himangshu said that there is a need to spread the message that the way God loves everyone, fellow human beings should also love each other.
“We should love and respect people as they are,” he said.
A person from the Muslim community too said that peace and tranquility is the need of the hour in the country.
He also criticised Prime Minister and the Union Home Minister for not taking any action to control the riots in New Delhi.
