Mock drill for natural disasters at Baghmara

TURA: In line with regular preparation of the public to face any onslaught of calamities, the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) in South Garo Hills conducted a three-day familiarisation exercise and community awareness programme at different locations of the district, viz. Dabit Ampangdam, Capt Williamson Memorial Government College and Newaram Asim.
The exercise was conducted for V DMC, CBOs, NGOs, teachers, students, SHGs, Asha and Anganwadi workers.
During the familiarisation exercise, mock drills for a college and 16 villages were also conducted.
The exercise was conducted with an aim to train the government officers, employees, teachers and the general public to make them familiar with the types of disasters and casualties/injuries, and also how to respond efficiently to such unforeseen events.
