Meghalaya athletes excel in Guwahati City Marathon

GUWAHATI: Meghalaya athletes took top honours at the Guwahati City Marathon organised by Natventure at Rani in Kamrup district on Sunday.

The event saw participation of around 200 runners in the 21 km and 42 km categories. 

Darishisha Iangjuh and Sonrah Lyngkhoi, both from Meghalaya, were winners in the female 21 km and 42 km categories respectively.

Jonali Doley and Sagarika Bhagawati, both from Assam, were placed second and third in the 42-km run while Dipamoni Deka and Gita Doley, also from Assam, were placed second and third in the 21 km category.

Among the men, Kresstarjune Pathaw and Batsrang Sangma, both from Meghalaya won the 21km and 42km runs respectively.

Assam’s Sanidul Islam and Meghalaya’s Dondorklant Kharbithai were placed second and third respectively in 42 km male category while Jomsingstar Ramsiej from Meghalaya and Naba Deka, from Assam came second and third in the 21km male category.

This was Natventure’s maiden initiative in organising a marathon event under its own banner. Earlier, the Guwahati-based organisation facilitated marathons and cycling events for government organisations and private companies.
