CRPF IG transferred
SHILLONG: Prakash D, IG, CRPF, NE Sector with HQ at Shillong has been transferred to Naxal-hit Chhattisgarh. A recent order to this effect was received in the office on Saturday and a farewell function was organised at CRPF HQ in the city. All the officers and men assembled there, and the IG, in his speech, expressed his gratitude to all the officers and men for their support and cooperation in conducting the anti-insurgency operations in Assam and Meghalaya. He recalled various challenges in the last three years in front of CRPF, from Assembly Election of state to the Lok Sabha election being conducted peacefully. He also recalled many arrests and surrenders of militants that took place, and huge cache of arms being recovered. Many initiatives were also taken for the welfare of the troops. Technology was used to the maximum. Trophies were won in sports meets. A lot of effective attempts were taken in the area of Civic Action Programme. The IGP, in his speech, also acknowledged the cooperation and support received from the Meghalaya Police, Army, Air Force, Assam Rifles and BSF. He also thanked the people of the state for their support and cooperation.

Curfew relaxed
Shillong: The Sub Divisional Magistrate, Sohra Civil Sub Division has relaxed curfew in all areas under Shella Police Station with effect from 6 am to 10 pm on Sunday, and will be extended thereafter. In areas under Tyllap Police Outpost including Ichamati, curfew has been relaxed with effect from 8 am to 5 pm on Sunday and the same will be promulgated thereafter. In areas under Bholaganj Police Check Post, curfew has been relaxed with effect from 6am to 5 pm on Sunday, which will be extended again from 5 pm, until further orders.
