FKJGP demands checkpoint

NONGSTOIN: The Federation of Khasi Jaintia & Garo People (FKJGP), Mawshynrut Circle, expressed their concern over the irresponsibility of the state government and the Health department to install a checkpoint in Athiabari like in Byrnihat, Dawki and in Garo Hills to prevent outbreak of novel coronavirus.
FKJGP leader Carey Kharmuti, speaking to the pressmen here on Monday, said that Athiabari is an inter-state border and a gateway to West Khasi Hills and if the state government takes things lightly, the life of the people in WKH will be put in a big risk.
The FKJGP also met the Deputy Commissioner with regard to their demand to set up a checkpoint in Athiabari, where the DC has assured to take stock of the demand.Meanwhile, in another demand to the DC of WKH, the KSU Lyngngam Hynneng Brei Area Unit, has demanded of the DC to set up a checkpoint in WKH along with the staff of Health department.
