Shillong: The Principal Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, Urban Affairs Department has informed that E. Kharmalki, Director Urban Affairs has been notified as the Nodal Officer for all the ‘Homes for Shelter less’ located at all Urban centers in the State.
The Nodal Officer is to ensure that shelter homes are fully functional to take care of the homeless urban poor, proper hygiene including water supply, serving nutritious meals to all free of cost, proper medical care, maintaining proper physical distancing of at least one meter at all times and regular inspection of the Homes during the lockdown period.
The Nodal Officer will also coordinate with local authorities, NGOs to ensure that no urban poor is rendered homeless and deprived of any food.
