KSU ambulance service offer earns praise

SHILLONG: The Director of DHS (MI) has accepted and appreciated the assistance of the Khasi Students Union (KSU) to extend its emergency transport service to be utilized for coronavirus pandemic in the state.
The director in the letter to general secretary of KSU on Thursday said that matters pertaining to adherence of ambulance transfer protocol, training, identification of staff/driver, assigning of cases besides others will be done in collaboration with GVK EMRI, Meghalaya.
On Wednesday, the KSU had offered its assistance to the health department in terms of ambulance services as when required.
KSU presently has 9 ambulances at its disposal and would like to offer these vehicles for assisting the Directorate of Health Services if and when they are required.
The vehicles are being operated and managed by the different branches of the union and are stationed in their respective areas.
