NIT faculty develops low-cost gloves to contain virus

SHILLONG: An assistant professor of NIT, Meghalaya, Rakesh Roy has developed a special type, simple and low-cost hand gloves to minimize the spread of spreading of corona virus.
Speaking to The Shillong Times, Roy said it can be used by the people of any economy.
“Since human hands are mainly responsible to spread the virus, so the infection can also be stopped by human hands only. By using the proposed gloves, our hands will not only protect ourselves, it will also kill the virus in different objects”, he said.
According to him, the gloves will be helpful for doctors, nurses, hospital staff, police, media people who are at high risk for the corona virus infection.
Roy maintained that large scale manufacturing and compulsory use of these gloves can stop the spread of corona virus.
The gloves are completely reusable, he claimed.
His project on the gloves was submitted to IEEE COVID19 Hackathon Challenge (National level) along with other 9 team members and his project secured him a third position in the challenge.
