SHILLONG: The Dorbar Shnong Mawlai Mawroh with headman Peter G Lamare, acting general secretary Marbud Dkhar, deputy headman HBR Lyngdoh and seven Rangbah Dong on Saturday provided lunch to the underprivileged, who are the hardest hit amidst the lockdown imposed in the wake of coronavirus outbreak in the country.
The programme was organised in collaboration with Majestic Hotel.
The Dorbar also made sure that food and other basic essentials reach the shops at fixed prices, and ensured that hoarding and panic-buying do not take place.
The organisers, adhering strictly to the protocols issued by the government, made sure that only one from each family comes to take food home.
Lamare also assured the residents that the Shnong will look after all during the lockdown.
Dkhar, on the other hand, said that the entire process has been taken up to ensure that the poor do not starve, adding that lunch will be provided for an entire week.
