People held for flouting lockdown rules

SHILLONG: With the state and the entire nation under lockdown, security personnel have been closely monitoring the movement of people ensuring that social distance is maintained but some individuals have been relentless in coming out to the streets flouting government norms.
On April 6, around 10.30 am, during patrolling at Fire Brigade, Laitumkhrah, police apprehended three persons — Randhir Kumar Sharma (25), Anil Shah (41) and Kanahya Kumar Yadav (19) — for violation of curfew imposed by the East Khasi Hills District Administration.
The police, during routine patrolling at Kachari point, Shillong, on April 4, also apprehended Mukesh Prasad Thakur (27) and Elbert Rani (42), along with their vehicle Maruti Baleno (ML-05U-9911).
Also, on April 5, around 5 pm, police in West Garo Hills detected 6 persons flouting rules by selling groceries at Chaipani and Godagre villages under Dalu PS.
Those detected were identified as Poritosh Saha, Pratap Saha, Sanjoy Rajbongshi, Pollin Ch Momin, Gautam Rajbongshi and Sumit Paul.
Misuse of curfew pass
Meanwhile, two persons — Synran Pyngrope and Philip Kharkrang — were arrested from Kachari point for misusing the curfew pass affixed on one Maruti car (ML-04B-8124), which was meant for transportation of essential commodities.
The police informed that the duo instead used the vehicle to ferry people from Ri Bhoi to East Khasi Hills. Further, the accused also disobeyed the quarantine rules, the police said.
It may be mentioned that state along with the entire country has been under lockdown from March 25. However, the ongoing curfew in the state will continue till 6 am of April 6.
