Nongpoh: The Ri Bhoi deputy commissioner has urged the Rangbah Shnongs to collect details of the verified address and phone numbers of people with travel history during registration and share the same with the district authorities. The DC also urged the Rangbah Shnongs to keep a strict vigil on individuals who have recently arrived in the localities/villages and to ensure that the 14-day home quarantine is strictly observed by these individuals, adding that they should also follow up with the person under home quarantine.
The DC also urged the headmen to ensure that no family, irrespective of their social or religious background, starves during the lockdown. Report of any family in distress should be brought to the notice of the deputy commissioner.
The headmen were also asked to ensure social distancing in their localities and villages, especially when shops are opened for people to purchase essential commodities.
They were also asked to create awareness on the three non-negotiables – hand hygiene, respiratory etiquette and social distancing. The headmen have been asked to use the locality/village PA system for urgent and necessary announcement.
‘No stigma should be attached to any COVID-19 suspect or person with travel history while undergoing home quarantine and hygiene/etiquette be observed. People should not spit in public and inter-house visitation should be disallowed unless for the purpose of providing assistance when required while maintaining social distancing,’ said the DC to the headmen.
