Over 320 families receive rice in WKH

NONGSTOIN: The Relief Committee of Mawkhlam Nongpyndeng village under West Khasi Hills distributed rice to more than 320 households on Monday.
AL Syiem, secretary of the committee, told The Shillong Times that the village Durbar constituted committee to help the needy after the lockdown was imposed.
“Twenty days of lockdown has created difficulties for everyone especially the daily wage earners,” Syiem said.
He said that Rs 10 lakh was sanctioned for the relief by the village executive committee which was also donated by well wishers, religious organisations, including Nongpyndeng Presbyterian Church, Church of God, and KSU Nongpyndeng Unit, NRLTODA Nongpyndeng Unit, Labour Union Nongpyndeng, MLA and MDC of Nongstoin.
The relief committee extended its gratitude to all the well-wishers especially MLA Macmillan Byrsat for his contribution.
