Youth falls to his death at Smit

SHILLONG: A youth from Smit, Meban Khrawnam Kshiar, fell to his death from the top of the Kshaid Ryngkthem waterfall on Sunday afternoon.
The body is yet to be recovered despite attempts being made since the time of the incident.
Shaster Lyngdoh Nongbri, Sordar of Shnong Thadan, said that the waterfall is around 70 metres high.
The youth was on a visit the waterfall with seven others.
“The survivors told me that they left at 1 pm and reached the spot at around 3 pm. The deceased wanted to take pictures but fell down due to the slippery and windy conditions. Efforts are on to retrieve the body”, Nongbri said.
Nongbri also said that the Shnong has warned people not to climb atop the waterfall to avoid any disaster.
