SHILLONG: All the fair price shops under NFSA and Non-NFSA will open on April 16 from 9 am to 5 pm.
The East Khasi Hills Deputy Commissioner M War said on Wednesday that identified groceries and shops selling essential items as approved will also open in all the localities of Shillong agglomeration on the same day.
The list of selected shops is now 1559 with 20 mobile units, so as to meet the requirements of the local residents.
Vegetable, fruit, meat vendors and confectionery shops of respective localities will also remain open.
Other establishments which will remain open are collection centres of Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited in the community halls of each locality and mobile repair shops/service centres in localities of Shillong agglomeration and adjoining areas as per the approved list.
The stores of Telecom Providers (public & private) will open in Civil Sub- Divisions of Pynursla and Sohra and in all Blocks of East Khasi Hills district.
The deputy commissioner asked the people to maintain social distancing of at least one metre and not to overcrowd in one area or shop.
The deputy commissioner also ordered that people should wear masks which is mandatory and they should not spit in public places.
Under section 144 CrPC, the deputy commissioner also prohibited assembly of more than five people, movement of public and private vehicles and operation of major markets.
However, this order will not affect fair price shops, groceries and others.
The deputy commissioner also suspended all passes barring essential services and medical emergencies.
The deputy commissioner further said that the movement of all medical officers and staff of health department, all officers and staff of the departments of government working with Corona Care Centres and quarantine facilities, government employees of Secretariat and other essential offices working in COVID-19 matters should not be restricted.
The DC also asked headmen, community leaders, civil societies and church leaders to create awareness and sensitisation against stigmatisation
and other inconveniences that may be caused to doctors and medical staff on coronavirus related duty and staff of Bethany hospital and their family members who are residing in and around the hospital premises.
