Hailstones damage houses
Heavy rain accompanied by hailstones damaged some houses at Ïewmawîong and Laitmawroh falling under Laitlyngkot Elaka jurisdiction, Umthli and Nongthymmai falling under Raid Nongkynrih, Hima Khyrim and other adjoining places.
The hailstones have also damaged agricultural crops in these villages. Residents said that the hailstones were the size of marbles.
The residents were saddened that the potatoes were planted a few days back.
They expressed their distress as the natural disaster was at a time of lockdown when there is a complete stop to different employment opportunities.
The situation in Shillong is no different as strong wind pulled down pine boughs and bamboo trees which posed an obstruction to pedestrians.
