Army defuses unexploded shells fired by Pakistan

Jammu: The Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) of the Indian Army on Thursday defused many live mortar shells in Mendhar area of J&K’s Poonch district. For the last two days Pakistan army had resorted to unprovoked and indiscriminate shelling on the Line of Control (LoC) in Mendhar sector. A girl and an elderly man were injured and four houses were damaged in Pakistan shelling in the area. Discovering many unexploded shells lying near streams and in inhabited areas, civilians had approached the authorities to clear the area of these shells. As there was no firing and shelling on the LoC in Mendhar sector on Thursday, the Army’s BDS moved in to defuse the unexplored shells, police sources said. (IANS)
